Analog
A downloadable game
Modern life often pulls our attention towards convenience, speed, distraction, and endless stimulation.
ANALOG is a week-long micro-game about intentionally choosing older, more embodied experiences over more modern alternatives. It's an invitation to slow down, reconnect with everyday moments, and notice what changes.
The goal is not to reject modern life but to become more aware of its influence on our time, attention, and energy.
◆ ◆ ◆

1. Print, fold, and cut the zine to create a pocket-sized companion.
2. Throughout the week, earn points by intentionally choosing activities people experienced throughout different eras of human history.
3. Record your choices using the Analog Log.
4. At the end of the week, total your score and reflect on the experience.
◆ ◆ ◆
Cómo jugar

This is such a beautiful design! Plus turning intentional analog connection into a game mechanic is a clever way to pull people back into the real world. Have you read Tiny Experiments by Anne-Laurie Le Cunff? This reminds me of that, except that in your case it's Tiny Games! Well done and I love it!
Thank you so much! I haven't read Tiny Experiments, but I'm going to go check it out
I adore this idea! You've done a fantastic job making the rules clear and concise, and the graphic design & layout match the game's vibe so well. Can't wait to try this out!
Thank you so much!
Looks like something that might help change lots of harmful modern habits, good one!
I have two questions:
- why only a week? Wouldn't a longer time span create more opportunity to actually create a new analog habit?
- why reflection comes only after the game finishes? I think it would be nice also to encourage to journal everyday to catch some thoughts and emotions on the fly
Thanks! Good questions.
The original version was 21 days in an attempt to help players form more long-term habits, but in playtesting, I got feedback that it was discouraging for a significant number of them. One week seemed to be the sweet spot, and that way, players who really need help can start small. From my perspective, even a single intentional decision on the log is progress. I say, finish a week, check in with yourself, and start a new week if it feels motivating and beneficial.
Sure, I think more self-reflection is always better, and some might like having it encouraged throughout the week. In a future version I'll add some language to support the option for adapting the game according to player preference. Thank you so much for your feedback!
All clear, thanks for your time <3
I think it’s already perfect the way it is.
If someone wants the game to last longer, that’s easy enough to do just add more weeks.
Personally, I think it would be better to encourage people to create their own homebrew versions. That way, everyone can adapt the game to their own preferences without changing the original, which is already elegant, simple, and complete as it is.
It should be translated into all languages.
I wish! I’m only fluent in English and Spanish (at the moment), but I’d love to have human-translated versions in other languages
I think the idea behind this game is truly wonderful and powerful. Its core mechanic could easily be adapted to many other aspects of life.
I really appreciate that. Creating this game was a journey of self-reflection to create an engaging system representing a misalignment between my core values and bad habits.
I've got my copy printed out and I'm ready to give it a whirl! (If we're being extremely honest... I meant to start LAST week but my print-out sat on my desk at work for a full week and finally came home with me today!)
Looking forward to seeing how I stick with it and what my observations are at the end - I love the inclusion of reflection questions to help carry the momentum of the game forward.
Yay! I hope you stick with it! I've done it over a few different weeks, and I learn something new about myself each time. Good luck and thank you for the support
Absolutely love this - nicely done!
We just got back from a few days in the backwoods of Northern Ontario, and amongst the many things we did I taught my daughter how to make a fire-hardened wooden spear, then a stone-tipped wood spear using traditional birch pitch and made by the campfire.
I think we scored some points!
I love that! I think it's so important for families to spend quality time outdoors together. I'm about to become a father, and I hope I get to spend sometime out in the backwoods with them in a few years! Glad you both had a good time. Thanks for playing!
This is so awesome! I adore the zine format, super cool that fits on a single page. The multipliers that reward going further back in history? Peak! Now I feel the urge to invite my friends leave our phones at home and gather firewood in the forest to maximize my score. I am really curious if I will go through with this, will report back in a week.
Thank you! You totally got the inspiration behind the premise. Happy firewood gathering! Would love to hear how your week went.
